Yesterday, we were contacted by one of our retail partners to ask how 'green' our razor was. This prompted Andy and New Andy to take apart a Gillette Fusion and Mach3, and lay them alongside our Azor.
The Mach3 system razor comprised sixteen individual plastic and metal parts (excluding the cartridge), all requiring assembly and as you might imagine, somewhat challenging to recycle.
The Fusion manual system razor comprised ten parts.
The Azor comprised just one.
This is what we call "Simply Better, Designed In", because we see shaving simplicity as a virtue. This is our future, and we hope you embrace it too. You can find out a little bit more about our view on the environment here
PS - we didn't even look at taking apart a Fusion Power razor, or the Precision Trimmer...I think you know what my view would be on them!!!

It was a yuck Sunday weatherwise in the UK today (rainy, soggy and no fun for skateboarding or walking), and I spent much of the day in my converted barn with my son, Cameron before trying to go Ten pin bowling (booked) then nearly being sucked into the 'Build-a-Bear Workshop'. Ended up driving around somewhat aimlessly, not like me at all...
But I resisted, and ended up in Marlow High street, looking for a coat & some wellies for my son, as well as a book to follow on from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (Charlie & the Great Glass Elevator).
Went into Oxfam on a whim, and was pleasantly surprised. Not only did i pick up a great coat for Cam for just £3.50 (not £70 - he's 7), but I found a book (Wind in the Willows) and a nice scruffy stuffed dog (to go with SuperBatDog - from Build a Bear). Only difference is Ollie from Oxfam was £1.50 whereas SuperBatDog was £33!!!
Anyhow, I asked the woman how many Oxfam shops there were now, and she said 200!!!!
Wow. That's quite a retail estate, I thought. Rent probably pretty low, and the shop had more than a few customers in it... Looking around the shop, which I guess it being Marlow maybe had stock better than some, I was struck with not only the Recycle angle (old clothes, shoes, books etc.) but also the Green angle, Fairtrade coffee, Geobars, Fairtrade chocolate. All of which were new.
Being me, I immediately thought about maybe doing a Green King of Shaves range of toiletries for Oxfam - (Andy???) but also thought maybe Green and Recycle are the new futures of retail.
Hence coining the phrase GREtail (GREen & REcycle) in Retail. Bought the domain name www.gretail.co.uk - trust me, watch this space - you have User Generated Content online, why not User Generated Gretail Producs off...?!
